Relaxing Ayurvedic Drink

When the body is out of balance there is a tendency for stress and pain, often that can originate from our digestive system. (these recipes are provided in good faith that you check with your healthcare consultant as some herbs and spices may interfere with certain medications, please be responsible for any allergies you may currently have - your wellbeing is your responsibility)

A great way to get to sleep and to start a day is a special tasty nourishing drink

Warm milk that restores the body's digestive system. Best times to have it is at 6am and or 6pm. Enjoy.

Rest & RelaxationIngredients (all can be purchased from Indian herb supermarket - I'll include them when I update this page)

- 1 cup of milk

- 4 or 5 dates crushed

- pinch of saffron

- 4 cardamom pods (just opened - photos coming soon)

- 8 almonds soaked overnight

- pinch of nutmeg (freshly ground if possible but instant will do, however when you have ground your own you'll never want the other option again)

NOTE - I ALTERNATE BETWEEN CINNAMON AND NUTMEG use just one of these at a time.

- pinch of ground cinnamon (to eliminate thick mucus from respiratory tract useful in toning digestive tract.)

- spoonful of Ghee

Preparation

place

- 1 cup of milk bring to boil

- reduce heat to simmer, then ad

- 4 or 5 dates

- pinch of saffron

- 4 cardamom pods ( cardamom is a stimulant and a carminative. It's great for indigestion and flatulence.)

- 8 almonds (remove the skin)

- pinch of cinnamon

As you simmer, the dates  sweeten the milk. When simmered to your desire then ad cinnamon. Simmer for another minute and serve in a beautiful cup of soup dish at the last moment before serving ad Ghee, sprinkle a little cinnamon if desired, allow to cool a little and drink, enjoy.
